With this project, our goal is a complete renovation of the court including:

 

Re-leveling and resurfacing of the court
Trimming of surrounding trees
New hoops with fiberglass backboards
Stands for onlookers
Benches for players
Repaint court & the fence
Installation of trash receptacles
Lights to allow for evening games would be an amazing

 

Objectives of proposed project:

Improve quality of life to Campos Plaza residents
Provide community space for recreation and health and wellness activities
Create space for space for summer basketball clinics/camps/ youth leagues

 

For many LES youth living in this community, this park is their only exposure for organized sports. Additionally, this space provides an opportunity to network with other athletes, coaches & mentors.

Fully functioning and safe outdoor courts are necessary in this area.

With the unprecedented arrival of Covid-19, this year has presented a unique set of challenges to parents looking to secure safe spaces for their children this summer. For most families With a renovated court, the residual impacts of this renovation would benefit generation for years to come.

 

Basketball and it’s ability to connect people is undeniable. Visitors to this court are diverse and represent the richness of culture found in the L.E.S. community. Not only can the court improve the quality of life for residents through physical activity, this space allows youth to showcase and develop their athletic talents and develop leadership skills through organized sports.
