Donna Carroll started this petition to BusConnects (Dublin Area Revised Bus Network)

The new BusConnects route for Bray breaks up the old 145 route into 2 separate routes with NO connection between them. The E1 route is described as servicing Bray Road not Bray town.

Select any upper Bray point to Dublin

The proposed strategy is to funnel all secondary Bray spines to Bray Dart station and have all buses leave from there. Returning to the Main St and out across the Fran O Toole/ Dargle Bridge. If you don't want to go to Bray Dart Station, it is proposed you get off the Bray at The Arcade and walk to the Royal Hotel. There are numerous problems here.

Why is there no consideration of people who cannot simply hop off the bus and walk, the elderly, people with disabilities, parents with children, young commuters and visitors to Bray?

If all the commuters are funnelled to the Dart station then there will be a huge demand on buses that arrive. More people will be vying for the same buses which may arrive more frequently but not instantly and be full from the start, making it impossible to get on a bus at the Royal Hotel due to capacity. As there is no infrastructure in place, buses will head to the same congested bridge and meet increased traffic from people taking their cars.

People will get in their cars instead of being forced to negotiate bad planning.. This is not  30,000 people being inconvenienced, that is a potential 20,000 cars back on the road. The  NTA is happy to  prioritise people who live within Dublin county by creating chaos for those of us who live in the Greater Dublin area. This is shortsighted and obviously planned by people who don't rely on public transport to work, study and live in the city from our town.

Public Consultatation Notes. Bray on pg 37, 38,39 - No actions taken.

There was no change to the route after the first consultations as we are an orbital town and not deemed a priority in the larger central scheme. Other areas like Kimmage and Drimnagh reinstated bespoke routes after consultation but not Bray, simply because they didn't get to it.  One argument  is that the buses can't run for more than 4 hours. The E1 does not need to go all the way to Southern Cross and there are surely other opportunities to claim back the time for the route rather than cut off Bray town. Another is the increased Darts but let's not pretend that's an improved service. Another argument is the planned infrastructure for the future but it's not here now and won't be for years. There's no luas. The N11 is a disaster. The bus joining the and town and city directly essential.

It is proposed that the E1 service might run straight to Boghall to offset the need for a late night 212 service. Why can't  the E1 service be a permanent connection from Bray town to Dublin City?

Sign this petition to make the standard E1 service travel to up Killarney Road, Bray at least as far Boghall Road junction to keep the BusConnects service practical, useful and relevant to the community of Bray.

Submission are due before 10 December. Please share.
