Bury AFC to host a Charity Football Match in memory of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz
The Issue
On Thursday 2nd October 2025, an horrific terrorist attack took place on Middleton Road, Crumpsall, Greater Manchester which resulted in the deaths of two Jewish men - Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz.
A terrorist called Jihad al-Shamie committed an antisemitic atrocity against the Jewish community - the effects of which are still being felt not only in Manchester but across the whole of the United Kingdom.
Whilst Manchester is sadly no stranger to terrorist incidents, the city and the people know that love, care and respect will always triumph over evil.
My petition, therefore, is to help do something positive after a very negative incident - a memorial/tribute football match at Bury AFC's wonderful Gigg Lane Stadium on Tuesday 18th November 2025 between a Bury AFC XI and a PFA team XI.
Bury's stadium is the largest stadium in the immediate area and has regularly hosted charity matches on its 3G pitch, whilst the stadium can accommodate 12,000 fans. Therefore it is more than ideal to host such a match which people from Manchester and beyond would surely be interested in attending, making the statement that we all stand in solidarity against hatred and the ideologies of darkness and oppression.
As Bury FC do not have a match arranged for the day in question, and the 3G pitch can be made ready, it would be an ideal opportunity for Bury AFC to play a high profile match against a team from the Professional Footballer's Association made up of out-of-contract players. In turn, this may help players seeking a new club find one in or around the Manchester/North West area at an appropriate level.
Money raised from this match would go to charities dear to Adrian and Melvin or to their families.
Perhaps the match could even be called the 'Daulby-Cravitz Cup'.
Therefore, I urge both Bury AFC and the PFA to please consider my petition carefully and to do something good, fun and positive whilst remembering and respecting the lives of two innocent people who were taken from us far too soon in an act of barbarism.
