We, the undersigned students of Burnaby North Secondary School, request that the school be closed on Friday, March 13th, 2026.

The reason for this request issues from a response to the two lockdowns, which have taken place throughout this week in the span of four days. These incidents caused significant stress and concern among both students and their families. Experiencing two lockdowns in a short period of time has caused an aura of fear and uncertainty that has affected many student's ability to focus on their studies.

Many are feeling overwhelmed and anxious from a result of these events. Families and parents have also been impacted, worried for their own children's safety and well-being.

This petition is not intended as a way to extend spring break, but rather a request made of genuine concern for every student's safety and mental health. We believe that taking a day to rest, process, and recover will help everyone regain a sense of stability which would be beneficial for the entire community.

Consequently, we respectfully ask the school administration to consider closing the school for one spare day, Friday March 13th, 2026, so both staff and students will have time to recover from the stressors of these recent events.
