Build the Future of Football at The King’s School

Build the Future of Football at The King’s School
The issue
Urgent upgrades required for The King’s School football infrastructure and facilities.
Dear Players, Parents, Old Boys and Friends of TKS Football Club,

The Kings School has long been recognised for its sporting excellence and its football future looks bright but Senior Premierships are waiting to be won and remain an important next milestone. To achieve this, we must continue to attract top football talent supported by appropriate infrastructure. Without serious investment in players, fields, and facilities, we risk losing our competitive edge.
Football continues to be the most popular winter sport at The Kings School—and globally—and it is experiencing unprecedented growth across all three School campuses. In 2025, a total of 801 students played football. The Senior School fielded six teams in each of Years 7–9 and eight teams in the Opens, while the Preparatory School saw 77% of students participating across six teams in Years 3–6. Tudor House contributed an additional 84 players.
Improvements we seek are as follows:
2026 Season:
1. DRAINAGE – winter training needs to continue in inclement weather. Winter sports fields should have proper drainage. Many training sessions and games were missed due to water-logged fields in 2025 season.
2. FENCING – back to basics! Appropriate fencing around Massie and Wanderers to prevent high volume ball loss.
3. SEATING – seating on the 1st XI Field i.e. Wanderers should meet the same standards afforded to other sports.
2027 Season:
1. FOOTBALL PAVILION – given the significant distance between the Massie and Wanderers fields and other key sporting facilities (such as White Oval, rugby, and basketball areas) the construction of a dedicated pavilion is non-negotiable and must be fast-tracked. Essential inclusions include a kitchen, toilets, and modern change rooms to adequately support players, staff, and spectators.
2. SYNTHETIC PITCH & LIGHTING – the installation of a synthetic pitch and field lighting on one of the Massie fields is a critical priority. This investment will enable all-weather access, extend training hours, and ensure the programme can meet increasing participation and performance demands.
Football participation dominates in the Preparatory School, and it is essential that TKS retains this momentum through to the Senior Campus. Our formal partnership with Western Sydney Wanderers FC provides access to elite training and high-calibre coaching and the TKS Academy—led by David O’Keefe and Paul Wade (former Socceroos captain) is already drawing students into Year 7 (2026 intake) who may not otherwise have chosen TKS. Parents are now seeking strong football pathways within GPS schools which makes it all the more exciting that two TKS Prep students have already been identified for training in WSW’s elite program.
We are calling for The Kings School to demonstrate leadership in the form of appropriate investment in this highly competitive sporting landscape—because “Better Never Stops.”
