The Issue

In North Ridgeville, Ohio, our community has been struck by a tragic loss. An innocent young girl, beloved by her family, friends, and coworkers, was taken from us far too soon. She was simply crossing the street, a simple, everyday action, when she  was it by car and lost your life shortly after. This heartbreaking incident has left a void in our lives, and her memory compels us to act.

Our town currently has inadequate infrastructure to ensure the safety of pedestrians. We lack sufficient sidewalks and crosswalks, making it perilous for those on foot, whether they are children going to school, the elderly taking a stroll, or anyone running daily errands. This tragedy has made it painfully clear that we must prioritize pedestrian safety to prevent such heart-wrenching loss in the future.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian fatalities have been on the rise, with nearly 6,000 lives lost annually across the nation. This shouldn't be our reality in North Ridgeville. We can and must do better. By investing in safer infrastructure, such as well-marked and adequately lit crosswalks, along with accessible sidewalks, we can protect our community members and honor the memory of our loved one.

I urge the city council and our local government officials to allocate funds and prioritize the construction of more sidewalks and crosswalks throughout North Ridgeville. The cost of inaction is too high, and we must take this critical step to safeguard our community.

Please join me in urging our local leaders to take immediate action. Sign this petition to support the installation of necessary pedestrian infrastructure so no other family has to endure such a loss. Together, we can create a safer, more pedestrian-friendly North Ridgeville. Let us stand united to protect our community and honor the memories of those we've lost. Please sign the petition and make your voice heard.
