The renters reform bill will go someway to ending the injustice of unfit homes and protect against the rising cost of living. The government has labelled the proposals the great shake up for 30 years, thus starting the process of an affordable private rented sector.

However, one of the reasons these new reforms are necessary is simply because not enough new social homes have been built. Social housing's main priority is to be more affordable that privately renting, it also provides long term security. Private renting does not provide long term security and is not affordable.

Lack of housing and poor housing is a main factor in mental health issues in this Country, it's approximate costs to the NHS is nothing shy of a billion.

In short there is still a housing crisis and it is still a tragedy that this, after all these decades is still not resolved.
