The vibrant community of Harris Park in NSW has long been recognized as the center of Indian culture in Australia. With a rapidly growing population and a rich cultural heritage, it’s only fitting to commemorate this beloved precinct with a landmark that embodies the spirit of the Indian community—the India Gate. The esteemed Assistant Minister Andrew Charlton, Parramatta MP, has committed to this vision by generously allocating $3.5 million to the Parramatta Council to initiate this project.

This funding sets the stage for creating an iconic monument that will serve as a lasting symbol of unity and cultural exchange between Australia and India. The India Gate in Harris Park would not only enhance tourism and local business but also honor the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the richly diverse fabric of Australian society.

Moreover, the construction of the India Gate presents an opportunity to celebrate multiculturalism and promote intercultural understanding. It is poised to become a hub for community events, celebrations, and educational opportunities, fostering economic growth and social engagement.
