I am writing this petition to have an overpass built on the Hart Highway next to Kenworth road to replace the tunnel crossing.

My daughter, and the children and families in our neighborhood as well as several working bus commuters use this tunnel to safely cross the 4 lanes of busy, and we all know, speeding, vehicles. We use this tunnel almost daily when going to and from the bus stops on either side of the highway. Sadly, some unfavorable riff raff have been using the tunnel to sleep in and spend time in doing even more unfavorable things. Causing the commuters to wade through, ashes, garbage, and even human urine, along with obvious signs of drug use and other activity that should not be happening in a public access way.

I witnessed first hand 2 small children chose to run frantically across the 4 lanes of evening traffic instead of cross through as there was a man passed out inside. 

Some mornings on our way to the bus stop, my daughter and I have to wait for the same man and sometimes others to clear the tunnel and put out their fire. Only to tip toe through the rubbage and have them back even at after school times.

I have called both bylaw and the rcmp with some help, but I need the community to help me prove to the ministry of transportation that what we want and need is a permanent solution to the issue.  My suggestion is a walking over pass, but any and all suggestions from the community are greatly appreciated and welcomed!

This is a serious issue and I know it's not only affecting my family. So please help me bring attention and awareness to this problem and help keep our Hart Highway commuters safe!
