Build Bus Lanes through San Elijo

Build Bus Lanes through San Elijo
The Issue
Traffic in San Elijo is some of the worst in North County, becoming a slog for anyone traveling in or out. Even with school start and stop times separated, San Elijo Road becomes bumper-to-bumper traffic. Plans to add more developments in San Elijo would only exasperate the issue, and such developments have been prevented for this reason, rightfully so. But if San Elijo wants to become a better place to live, then we have to start by fixing the abhorrent traffic, in a way that does actually fix traffic.
Adding a bus line with dedicated bus lanes would provide a multitude of benefits, including but not limited to: safer streets, increased profits for businesses, faster emergency response times, increased health, lower traffic, cheaper travel, and more.
Making frequent bus services in their own dedicated lane would make taking the bus faster than driving, taking cars off the road, and increasing travel times for everyone. Emergency vehicles would also be able to use these lanes preventing them from getting stuck in traffic.
Adding busses not only to San Elijo but also to the rest of the city and making the run frequently throughout the day will give people the freedom to choose how to get somewhere without being forced to wait in traffic.
If you decide to take the bus for more short-distance trips that don't need a car, then you can save hundreds of dollars on gas and maintenance.
Fewer cars also lessens the chance your kids could get hit, and if that car is going slower, then your kids might not die. If you don’t want to lose your children, invest in transportation that doesn’t depend on the automobile.
San Elijo has been around for more than 20 years now, yet it remains an island from the rest of the city. As the population grows, so will the traffic if nothing is done about it.
