As a resident of North Ridgeville, I have always been passionate about skateboarding. Unfortunately, the poorly maintained sidewalks in our town make it difficult for me to enjoy my favorite activity. That's why I am starting this petition to urge the city council to build a skatepark in our community.

Skateboarding is not just a hobby; it's also an Olympic sport that requires skill, dedication, and practice. However, without proper facilities like a skatepark, skateboarders are forced to use public spaces like sidewalks and parking lots as makeshift skateparks. This not only puts them at risk of injury but also creates potential liability issues for the city.

According to statistics from the National Safety Council, there were over 100,000 emergency room visits due to skateboard-related injuries in 2019 alone. By providing a safe and designated space for skateboarders to practice their skills, we can reduce these numbers and promote healthy physical activity among our youth.

Moreover, building a skatepark will benefit our local economy by attracting visitors from neighboring towns who are looking for quality recreational facilities. It will also create job opportunities during construction and maintenance phases.
