I was very disappointed with my recent visit to the Altamonte Mall as the original play area has been demolished and replaced with benches.

 Over the years I’ve enjoyed shopping at the Altamonte mall. Now that I have small children I have been including them in on my shopping trips. Every trip I would always go downstairs and take the kids to the play area. The kids have called it their indoor jungle as it had that big rainforest tree with the slide in the middle.

 Anyone from the area knows that tree had become an iconic part of the mall. We’ve made so many fond memories there and feel so devastated to see it gone now… 

 I want to see a new play area built at the Altamonte Mall to replace the old one. If you remove these children’s areas from malls you are no longer a family oriented place. It is important for the community to have a place for families with children to have a place to have fun and get out of the Florida heat while the adults take a break from shopping.

I am hoping I can be a voice for parents/grandparents or anyone else in our community who wants to see a children’s area come back to the mall. The City of Altamonte listened to us and kept the Altamonte Library open. Let’s make this happen and get a new and improved play area for our children!
