This petition is in regards to Chula Vista, California, specifically in the Otay Ranch community.

In the Chula Vista Elementary School District, there are 49 schools dedicated to K-6 students, with 7 of those schools being in Otay Ranch (the historic 50th school is also slated to be in Otay Ranch). In Sweetwater Union High School District, there are 9 9-12 high schools in Chula Vista, with 2 being in Otay Ranch. For middle schoolers in grades 7-8, however, there are only 6  public schools within SUHSD. None of these schools are in Otay Ranch.

In the Cota Vera subdevelopment in Otay Ranch there is a future school site on the intersection of Avenida Caprise and Calle Escuela (approximate coordinates are (32.6009969, -116.9731552). We, the residents of Cota Vera and Otay Ranch overall, are proposing that this become the site for the first public middle school in Otay Ranch.
