কোন্নগর এবং হুগলির আশপাশের এলাকার মানুষদের নিজেদের বাড়ির কাছেই যথাযথ স্বাস্থ্যসেবার অধিকার রয়েছে। কিন্তু বর্তমানে বাস্তবতা তা নয়।

এখানকার পরিবারের জন্য একটি চিকিৎসা-সংক্রান্ত জরুরি পরিস্থিতি প্রায়ই সময়ের বিরুদ্ধে এক দৌড়ে পরিণত হয়। কোনো রোগীর যদি তাৎক্ষণিক বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসা, আইসিইউ সহায়তা, ভেন্টিলেটর সাপোর্ট, বা উন্নত চিকিৎসার প্রয়োজন হয়, তাহলে কোন্নগরে এমন কোনো পর্যাপ্তভাবে সজ্জিত সরকারি বহুবিশেষজ্ঞ হাসপাতাল নেই, যা এই চাহিদাগুলি সম্পূর্ণভাবে পূরণ করতে পারে। মানুষকে প্রায়ই কলকাতা বা আরও দূরের হাসপাতালের দিকে ছুটতে বাধ্য হতে হয়, এবং সংকটজনক পরিস্থিতিতে সেই দেরি অসহনীয় ও বিপজ্জনক হয়ে উঠতে পারে।

এই সমস্যাটি শুধু অসুবিধার বিষয় নয়। এটি জীবন ও মৃত্যুর প্রশ্ন।

কেউ গুরুতর অসুস্থ হলে তাঁর পক্ষে দীর্ঘ দূরত্ব অতিক্রম করা সবসময় সম্ভব নাও হতে পারে। একটি পরিবারের আর্থিক সামর্থ্য থাকতে পারে উন্নত চিকিৎসা নেওয়ার, কিন্তু তবুও রোগীকে নিরাপদে স্থানান্তর করা সম্ভব না-ও হতে পারে। সেই মুহূর্তগুলিতে কাছাকাছি একটি সুসজ্জিত হাসপাতালের অভাব পরিবারগুলিকে অসহায়, আতঙ্কিত এবং বাস্তব বিকল্পহীন অবস্থায় ফেলে দেয়।

এই অঞ্চল ও তার আশপাশে কিছু বেসরকারি হাসপাতাল রয়েছে, কিন্তু অনেক বাসিন্দাই সেগুলির উপর নির্ভর করতে পারেন না, কারণ উন্নত চিকিৎসা সাধারণ পরিবারের জন্য প্রায়ই অত্যন্ত ব্যয়বহুল এবং নাগালের বাইরে। স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কারও উচ্চ খরচ বহনের ক্ষমতা বা জরুরি অবস্থায় অনেক দূর যাতায়াত করার সামর্থ্যের উপর নির্ভর করা উচিত নয়। জনস্বাস্থ্য সবার জন্য থাকতে হবে, বিশেষ করে শ্রমজীবী পরিবার, বয়স্ক রোগী এবং সীমিত সামর্থ্যের মানুষদের জন্য।

কোন্নগর, এবং রিষড়া, উত্তরপাড়া, হিন্দমোটর, ও হুগলির অন্যান্য অংশ মিলিয়ে, একটি বৃহৎ জনসংখ্যার এলাকা, যা ক্রমাগত বাড়ছে। তবুও স্বাস্থ্য পরিকাঠামো সেই বাস্তবতার সঙ্গে তাল মেলাতে পারেনি। আধুনিক জরুরি পরিষেবা, বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসক, আইসিইউ সুবিধা, এবং ক্রিটিক্যাল কেয়ার সহায়তাসম্পন্ন একটি যথাযথ সরকারি হাসপাতালের অভাব এখনও রয়ে গেছে।

এর ফলে সাধারণ পরিবারের মধ্যে ভয় তৈরি হয়। মানুষ প্রতিদিন এই দুশ্চিন্তায় বাঁচে যে, কোনো বয়স্ক বাবা-মা, শিশু, বা গুরুতর অসুস্থ পরিবারের সদস্য অসুস্থ হলে কাছাকাছি সময়মতো ও যথাযথ চিকিৎসা তারা পাবেন কি না। কোনো পরিবারকেই প্রতিদিন এই ভয় বয়ে বেড়াতে হওয়া উচিত নয়।

সেই কারণে আমরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার এবং স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তরের কাছে আহ্বান জানাচ্ছি, যেন কোন্নগর বা তার তাত্ক্ষণিক আশপাশের অঞ্চলে একটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ সরকারি বহুবিশেষজ্ঞ হাসপাতাল স্থাপনের জন্য অবিলম্বে এবং গুরুত্বের সঙ্গে পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হয়। এই হাসপাতালে উন্নত আইসিইউ সুবিধা, ভেন্টিলেটর সাপোর্ট, জরুরি চিকিৎসা, ট্রমা কেয়ার, এবং বিশেষজ্ঞ বিভাগ থাকা উচিত, যাতে বাসিন্দারা দেরি ছাড়াই যথাযথ চিকিৎসা পেতে পারেন।

স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কোনো বিলাসিতা নয়। এটি একটি মৌলিক প্রয়োজন এবং একটি মৌলিক অধিকার।

আমরা কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে অনুরোধ করছি, এই বিষয়টিকে একটি জরুরি জনস্বাস্থ্য প্রয়োজন হিসেবে বিবেচনা করুন এবং আরও পরিবার যাতে প্রতিরোধযোগ্য ক্ষতি ও অসহায়তার শিকার না হয়, তার আগে পদক্ষেপ নিন। কোন্নগর ও হুগলির মানুষ এমন একটি হাসপাতাল-ব্যবস্থা পাওয়ার যোগ্য, যা জীবন রক্ষা করে; এমন নয়, যা মানুষকে প্রয়োজনীয় চিকিৎসার জন্য অতিরিক্ত সময় অপেক্ষা করায়।

দয়া করে কোন্নগর, হুগলি এবং আশপাশের অঞ্চলের জন্য আরও ভালো স্বাস্থ্যসেবার দাবিতে এই পিটিশনে স্বাক্ষর করুন এবং এটি শেয়ার করুন।

The people of Konnagar and the surrounding areas in Hooghly deserve proper access to healthcare close to home. At present, this is simply not the reality.

For families living here, a medical emergency often becomes a race against time. When a patient needs urgent specialist care, ICU support, ventilator assistance, or advanced treatment, there is no adequately equipped government multi-speciality hospital in Konnagar that can fully meet those needs. People are often forced to look toward distant hospitals in Kolkata or other faraway places, and in critical situations, that delay can be unbearable and dangerous.

This issue is not only about inconvenience. It is about life and death.

When someone is seriously ill, they may not be stable enough to travel long distances. A family may have the money to seek better treatment, but still be unable to move the patient safely. In those moments, the absence of a nearby well-equipped hospital leaves families helpless, frightened, and with no real options.

There are some private hospitals in and around the region, but many residents cannot rely on them because advanced treatment is often too expensive and inaccessible for ordinary families. Healthcare should not depend on whether a person can afford high costs or travel far in an emergency. Public healthcare must exist for everyone, especially for working families, elderly patients, and people with limited means.

Konnagar, along with nearby areas such as Rishra, Uttarpara, Hindmotor, and other parts of Hooghly, has a large population that continues to grow. Yet the healthcare infrastructure has not kept pace with that reality. Residents still lack a proper government hospital with modern emergency care, specialist doctors, ICU facilities, and critical care support.

This creates fear in ordinary households. People live with the constant worry that if an elderly parent, child, or critically ill family member falls sick, they may not get timely and proper treatment nearby. No family should have to carry that fear every day.

We are therefore calling on the Government of West Bengal and the Health Department to take immediate and serious action to establish a full-fledged government multi-speciality hospital in Konnagar or the immediate surrounding region. This hospital should include advanced ICU facilities, ventilator support, emergency care, trauma care, and specialist departments so that residents can receive proper treatment without delay.

Healthcare is not a luxury. It is a basic necessity and a fundamental right.

We ask the authorities to treat this as an urgent public health need and act before more families are forced to suffer preventable loss and helplessness. The people of Konnagar and Hooghly deserve a hospital system that protects life, not one that leaves them waiting too long for care that should already be available.
