Build a calisthenics park at Riverfront Green in Peekskill, NY by Summer 2025
The Issue
The residents of Peekskill, NY are long overdue for a new addition to our community that caters to the health and well being of its members. There are plenty of outdoor options in Peekskill that pertains to cardio exercises but virtually no parks that focus on calisthenic exercises. The importance in having both of these exercises and a well balanced diet incorporated into ones daily activities and life practices is vital for ones health, longevity, and overall quality of life. Personally I have seen such parks sprout up all over the tri-state area, except for in my own town, unfortunately.
I fear that if Peekskill does not act now to add a new workout out park it will send a message to its residents that Peekskill is ok with not giving its residents a free place to exercise the mind and gain strength. I especially fear for the youth and the generations to come. I fear that they will miss out on certain experiences to be all you can be physically. Doing pull ups is hard even for most adults, and it could be a vital exercise that one day could save ones life, like swimming. The sooner you learn to pull and push your own body weight the easier it will become and remain.
I think now is the time to turn this dream of mine into a reality. Peekskill's population is growing rapidly each day. With new additions to our community each and every day we want to remain as accommodating as we have always been. That is part of who we are in Peekskill! A workout park is a economically-friendly strength workout, that could be done in passing, or at the beginning or end of an outdoor cardio workout. The children need to see us adults be as active as possible so they too can aspire to be just as active. Who knows? Maybe this addition will help a Peekskillian youth to pursue his or her dreams at becoming a Olympic winning gymnast! A youth who may not have had another place to fully express his or hers talents.
