Build a bypass through Gambo to the TCH in Newfoundland

Build a bypass through Gambo to the TCH in Newfoundland
The Issue
In the heart of Newfoundland, my daily life is tied to long drives across winding roads that stretch over endless miles. Living in Dover, NL, the trip to Gander could be a few precious minutes shorter if there was a practical shortcut—a bypass through Gambo directly linking us to the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH).
For several years, the people of Dover and Hare Bay, and surrounding areas have faced the challenge of navigating lengthy routes to reach essential destinations. A direct bypass road through Gambo would not only significantly reduce travel time to Gander, but also promote economic development, improve safety, and decrease wear and tear on our vehicles.
Connecting Gambo directly to the TCH offers a promising opportunity to revitalize our community by fostering local growth, attracting new businesses, and improving access to healthcare, education, and tourism. Reduced travel times mean more efficient transport of goods and services, benefiting both individual residents and commercial interests in the Dover area.
Statistics show that shorter travel routes boost local economies. Towns with highway access generally experience a surge in business activities and opportunities. More so, a bypass would distribute traffic more evenly, reducing congestion, and lessening the environmental impact caused by vehicle emissions.
We understand that constructing a bypass is a significant commitment, but evidence from similar projects across Canada demonstrates that it's a worthwhile investment with long-term benefits. A feasibility study and environmental assessments would be preliminary steps to ensure the path forward respects the integrity of our natural landscapes.
Let us stand together and urge local authorities, including the Department of Transportation and Works of Newfoundland and Labrador, to prioritize this vital infrastructure project. By signing this petition, you join hands with the people of Dover and Gambo in making travel safer, quicker, and more efficient for everyone in our community.
We need your support to make this change possible. Please sign this petition and help us build a better future for our towns and our families.
