Stricter enforcement in frogmore high Wycombe
The Issue
Petition to Buckinghamshire Council
We, the undersigned, appreciate that vehicular access needs to be maintained to a number of properties in High Wycombe Town Centre but are concerned with the number of people who park their vehicles indiscriminately or illegally and those who ignore no entry signs etc.
This is a hazard for pedestrians and bus users and drivers alike and needs urgent action.
Passengers have difficulty boarding and alighting from buses particularly in Oxford Street due to illegally parked vehicles. Those with disabilities are particularly badly affected as the bus is unable to stop at the designated stop with a raised pavement. Pavement parking is a particular hazard for pedestrians particularly near “Treats”.
We call on Buckinghamshire Council to install CCTV to penalise those committing moving traffic offences and strengthen the enforcement the parking regulations currently in force with particularly regard to the Oxford Street/Frogmoorand Castle Street/Corporation Street areas.
To ensure smooth passage of vehicles consideration should be given to the removal of parking in certain areas and whether further restrictions on traffic movements are necessary. There is adequate parking both on street and off street available within walking distance
Signage and road markings need to be reviewed to make it clear where parking is not permitted and the Council is requested to implement harsher penalties for repeat offenders including the removal of vehicles.
