For over 30 years, the Redgauntlet Bar and Lounge as provided the local residents of Broomhouse with a social area to meet friends and host events. In the past, previous owners have misused the property for their own personal agendas, but since the most recent owner Mr Marinello, the pub as become a respectable and enjoyable vicinity for the elderly and close-by citizens. 

The Redgauntlet has hosted a huge variety of events such as bingos, discos, domino nights, hen nights, dart competitions and much more. Above the pub itself, discos and youth events have formerly been arranged for young members of the community. The bar is also located meters away from all other local services such as the bakery, the convenience store, the post office, the health stratgey shop and the community advise centre. 

Recently, a new business owner has applied for permission to convert the pub into another convenience store which is NOT wanted by the local residents of the area. By signing this petition, the locals have the chance to stop the application from being accepted by the council and leave the property as it is. However, if the property was to be changed, members of Broomhouse have stated that a community centre for youths and youngsters would be more ideal than another shop and more flats.
