Pix G started this petition to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzales

On January 15, 2019, three families had their breadwinners and heads of the family ripped from them when Arthur Martunovich walked into Seaport Buffet and brutally bludgeoned three Asian men in the head with a hammer.

We demand justice for 61-year-old Kheong Ng-Thang, 50-year-old Tsz Mat Pun, and 34-year-old Fufai Pan. They came to America to support their families, and in return got murdered in cold blood for their race.

Martunovich planned these murders to specifically target and kill Chinese men, and tried to escape arrest by blending into a crowd of people. Before the attack, he told a staff at the restaurant, "I have no problem with Hispanics, but with Chinese." He also later told police, "Chinese men are awful".

Despite all this evidence of a premeditated hate crime, a court decided last month that Arthur Martunovich will face no jail time. The prosecution and the defense, both reached an agreement in private, behind closed doors, WITHOUT consulting or even informing the family members of the victims. This is atrocious and a slap in the face not just to the victims' families, but to all Asian Americans during a time of heightened anti-Asian racism and violence in America.

We demand:

- A retrial to be held

- The prosecutor be asked to resign

- Restitution be paid to the victims' families

No amount of restitution will bring these men back to their families, or repair the damage that has been done. Their lives, which were precious, were treated like little more than garbage by the prosecution.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzales, the least you can do is admit to this miscarriage of justice, and do everything in your power to make this right. We demand these things on behalf of all Asian Americans who are facing heightened levels of violence and need a justice system that will at least make the bare minimum effort to protect us.
