We need BASIT as our VPFA!
The Issue
The most recent Brock University’ Students Union elections held a few days ago were the worst that have taken place so far in the student union’s history and from the bottom of my heart as a student who has worked with the union I apologize. I have also suffered as having my VPFA win snatched away from my hands right at the last moment before the results announcement when I clearly won the election. I have tried and tried to appeal to the board yet no one has listened to my concerns and I am now asking your help to do what is right and help me raise my voice for it to be heard as the rightful VPFA in this election. There have been accusations been made against me for which there is no proof whatsoever and if BUSU is going to select candidates to represent them instead of the candidates that win the election from the students decision fair and square then it’s time to take a stand.
Being accused for breaching BUSU’ vague guidelines. My videos made in school are being used as an accessory to an infraction that claims that I approached individuals to force them to vote for me, in-person. Although school is in person now and yes, I did make these videos on campus with an approval from the Chief Returning Officer. I did not approach any students in person and ask for votes. Such accusations are baseless and when I had won the election, I was disqualified with the use of a loop hole in the policy that stated I could not campaign on campus by asking people to vote VIA a physical approach. This policy was supposedly abused by me and it was supported by baseless evidence that included my videos and my in-person activity at Brock university for my educational purposes as proof of me campaigning. Since University is now open, and candidates-along with other students use the campus, its easy for one to make such claims and with a vague policy that BUSU put forward, accusations are easy to bring in act.
