Genetic research for pssm

Genetic research for pssm
The Issue
I want to see an improved knowledge and understanding of the genetic disease to the point where dealers and breeders understand the condition. For buyers to be made aware if a horse tests positive for pssm and be given the opportunity to have a test performed on a vetting. Polysaccharide storage myopathy type one is a genetic muscle condition that is inherited from one or both parents that could have just been carriers. The horse takes in glucose from their food which is then changed into glycogen to be used as energy, but in these types of horses they cannot break down the glycogen so it is stored in their muscles which causes them to tie up. Pssm type two affects the horse in a silmilar way but they also suffer from muscle wastage and refuse to exercise due to the pain and cramping in their muscles.
