Covid-19 is a virus that should be taken very seriously. More seriously than how the BC Ministry of Health seems to be taking it. This virus has the power to leave immune compromised, elderly people, smokers, and people with other health issues lifeless. My parents and I both fall under this list. I fear the day that covid-19 comes into my household because I know it will eventually with how poorly society handles this pandemic. I created this petition in hopes for people around British Columbia to contribute in making our province a smarter and healthier place. The government needs to shut down the schools to help prevent the spread of the virus. It has been said many times that it is the youth and young adults that are spreading the virus because we still hang out in groups, so what makes it any better to allow us to go to school where we are surrounded by hundreds, even thousands of people? School is a place where the virus can be passed around quickly because people are still in close contact with others. Sticking people in “cohorts” is not going to prevent a virus because theres still 20-30 people sitting in a classroom together. In my opinion, our government really doesn’t care how this pandemic plays out for us and that’s not fair. I’m not asking anyone to go out and start protesting, I’m just asking for your time in reading this and your signature. We can go a far way with this if everyone contributes. Thank you.
