We are two teenaged males named Mharlon Ayers and Joshua Fowler. For years, we have been honored to call Auburn, Alabama, The Loveliest Village on The Plains, our home. Home to the iconic Auburn University, this town is rich in culture, tradition and the vibrant southern experience. But our town has an eyesore that is sitting just outside of campus, known as the Auburn Mall. This “mall” (if you can even call it that), has little to no stores that actually add any value to the southern experience. This “mall” is embarrassingly tiny, with no stores that tailor to people that aren’t middle aged to elderly. This mall is only worth coming here to get a free sample of Chinese cuisine from the kind-hearted ladies over at Famous Wok. There are no stores that tailor to the youth, the Chick-Fil-A is not only more expensive than other Chick-Fil-A franchises in town, but it also takes twice as long to get your food, the mall is always socially dead and you can only depend on Bath and Body Works, Famous Wok, and depending on what type of person you are, Spencer’s. This mall is a slap in the face to every student lucky enough to attend university here, and to the public of Auburn. We ask that we as a public can come together, and realize that we deserve better. We need to expand, and a meeting with the board responsible for adding and subtracting stores from the mall.
