Bring U.S. Citizens Stranded in the Caribbean HOME

The Issue

Hundreds of American citizens are still stranded across the Caribbean after the Trump administration’s military operation in Venezuela led to a temporary shutdown of regional airspace — with no warning and no plan to help those caught in the middle.

Families, workers, and even children have been left sleeping on airport floors, searching for shelter, and missing work, school, and critical family events. The FAA’s closure of Caribbean airspace over the weekend led to the cancellation of over 425 flights, leaving travelers in Puerto Rico, St. Barts, Anguilla, and other destinations with no way to get home.

Airlines are now scrambling to add flights, but the delays are still significant. Some travelers were left with vague or no information from airlines, relying on social media rumors or word of mouth for updates. And all of this happened during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

This isn’t just about inconvenience — it’s about responsibility. The U.S. government initiated the military action that triggered this disruption. Now, it must help get its citizens home.

We are calling on the Trump administration, the Department of Transportation, and the FAA to coordinate directly with airlines and regional governments to expedite the return of stranded U.S. citizens.

This includes:

Emergency funding or incentives for added flights
Charter flights if necessary
Transparent, centralized communication for impacted travelers

Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent — this affects real people who just want to get home. Some are missing work. Some are missing birthdays. Some are stuck in unfamiliar countries with no place to stay and no idea when they’ll be able to leave.

America must take care of its own citizens — especially when government action played a direct role in the crisis.
