The Issue

We officially have their attention: Trader Joe's corporate has confirmed they are now ACTIVELY considering our neighborhood.

Your signature on this petition is critical to show the massive community support; Let's show Trader Joe’s & Hines Real Estate we are ready to welcome them and it's time to seal the deal.

Publix closed on December 27th.

Time is of the Essence.

We, the residents, workers, students, and supporters of Atlantic Station, urgently call on Trader Joe’s to open a store in the soon-to-be-vacant Publix space at Atlantic Station.

Without action, our neighborhood loses a vital grocery anchor.

Who is impacted?

This closure directly affects tens of thousands of people who interact with our community.

  • It hurts seniors, vulnerable residents, and those without cars who depend on walkable grocery access.
  • It hurts Georgia Tech students in nearby dorms and apartments.
  • It hurts Atlantic Station employees of major offices like Microsoft, Google, and Coda who shop after work and desire healthy lunch options.
  • It hurts visitors from surrounding neighborhoods with narrowing grocery options.
  • It weakens the fabric of our entire live-work-play community.

What’s at stake?

Our neighborhood's community identity, vitality, and character.

We cannot let Atlantic Station lose its status as a complete, livable neighborhood. Losing our only full-service grocery store threatens the walkable, live-work-play environment that makes Atlantic Station special.
It pushes grocery trips back into cars, adding to the notorious ATL traffic and eroding sustainability.

Why Trader Joe's?

Trader Joe’s is the perfect fit: a beloved, community-oriented store famous for high quality, affordable prices, and unique products.
Its presence would not just fill a void; it would become a pillar of the community.

  • The Location is Ideal:
    - The perfectly sized space for Trader Joe's signature smaller-format grocery stores.
    - Prime real estate in a high-traffic, walkable community with shops, restaurants, offices, and tens of thousands of residential units.
    - Dedicated 2-hour free parking—a rare amenity in Atlanta!
    - Easy access to the I-75/I-85 connector, drawing visitors from across the metro area.

  • The Community is Ready:
    - Thousands of daily visitors, Atlantic Station residents, and employees of the nearby major office buildings such as Microsoft, Google, Coda, etc.
    - The adjacent Georgia Tech campus of 53,000+ students which has a dedicated grocery shuttle to/from Atlantic Station.
    - Residents of West Midtown, Home Park, Underwood Hills, Downtown, and the greater surrounding areas who currently battle significant traffic to reach the nearest existing Trader Joe's locations.
    - This diverse mix of young professionals, families, and students who already love Trader Joe's and its affordable prices ensure that it would flourish in Atlantic Station.

  • The Need is Urgent:
Our community is facing the immediate threat of losing access to fresh, affordable groceries.
Families, seniors, and individuals without reliable transportation will be disproportionately impacted.
The economic and social fabric of Atlantic Station depends on having a grocery anchor that serves everyone.

  • Currently, the nearest Trader Joe’s is miles away:
This makes it inconvenient for the thousands of people who live in Atlantic Station. This distance is a huge barrier to the quality groceries and unique items only Trader Joe's offers. Bringing this much-adored store to our community would serve an essential need, reduce the community's carbon footprint by minimizing long-distance commutes, stimulate local economic growth, and boost property values.

Why Now?

Time is of the essence.
The Publix closure happened on December 27th.
Every day without a grocery store deepens the crisis.
The community is mobilized and ready to support a grocery partner who will invest in our future.

Let’s show Trader Joe’s and Hines the overwhelming demand!

This is our chance for a better solution.
The property owner, Hines, has stated that securing a new grocery store is their top priority, and Trader Joe's is the perfect fit.
Our community deserves and will support a Trader Joe’s at Atlantic Station.
Please join us in making a significant impact on our community's quality of life.

Trader Joe's, this is your moment!

By opening a store at Atlantic Station, you'll be a hero to thousands of residents, a catalyst for community resilience, and a model for how businesses can step up in times of need.

Flyer to print & post in public spaces:
