The Issue

As a former high school football player who reveled in the thrill and pride of playing in the historic RFK Stadium, I remember first hand the significant benefits a home team in Washington DC can have on young, aspiring athletes. With this petition, we advocate for the return of the Washington Commanders, our beloved football team.

Mayor Bowser and entrepreneur Josh Harris have on an ambitious plan to bring the team back to the RFK campus. The project doesn't stop at a mere stadium; it envisions a world-class stadium surrounded by parks, recreation spaces, housing, eateries, entertainment, retail, and more. This ambitious project is not just about the sport; it is about revitalizing the economy and creating an ideal social space, fostering a vibrant community.

High school sports participation has numerous benefits including higher college graduation rates and enhanced personal traits such as discipline and teamwork (source: High School Sports Participation Survey, National Federation of State High School Associations). By bringing back the Commanders to Washington, and hosting games at a New Stadium, we can give present and future high school athletes in Washington DC a chance to thrive, just as thousands before them have.

Furthermore, this project will draw thousands of spectators, benefit local businesses, and create job opportunities thereby invigorating the local economy.

By signing this petition, we can uplift Washington DC, bringing with it a resurgence in community pride, economic revitalization, and a return of our team to where it truly belongs. Stand with us - bring the Washington Commanders home. Sign the petition today.
