Growing up, many of us remember the importance of having a safe and nurturing place to go after school—somewhere that provided not only a shield from the dangers of idleness but also a platform for growth, learning, and friendship. In Carroll County, Georgia, this role was once proudly filled by The Boys & Girls Club of America. Unfortunately, this vital community anchor has been absent for too long, and it’s time we bring it back for the benefit of our children and teens.
Today, the absence of The Boys & Girls Club in our county has left a noticeable void. Our community's youth are yearning for a safe, structured, and empowering environment where they can spend their after-school hours, summer months, and other critical out-of-school times. Sadly, the current options do not adequately meet these needs, and what is available often comes at a cost many families find burdensome, especially given the rising costs of living.
According to national statistics from The Boys & Girls Club of America, their programs help to reduce crime rates by providing productive and engaging activities for our adolescents. Additionally, studies show that children participating in club activities tend to perform better in academics and become more responsible citizens.
