I am writing to express my support for the Heritage Gun Club development proposal at 1507 Rebel Ridge Road, La Grange, KY and request that you vote in favor of the conditional land use at the upcoming public meeting.

Heritage Gun Club is so much more than a sporting clay facility. It is a gathering place. It is a place for families to make memories. It is a place for friends to reunite. It is a place for business to be conducted. It is a place for locals to enjoy the natural beauty of Oldham County. It is a place for visitors to get to know the real spirit of Kentucky. It is a place of celebration and one worth celebrating. It is where we honor the past, while preparing the future. 

In addition to providing local employment opportunities and tax revenue generation, this exciting project will make an attractive and welcome addition to the community, where visitors and locals alike can enjoy the natural beauty of Oldham County. It will provide a home for youth sporting teams and charity groups, such as 4H who are in desperate need of facilities. Heritage Gun Club offers a much-needed and long overdue family-friendly entertainment option outside of the gambling and alcohol industries to demonstrate the versatility of Kentucky as an attractive, inclusive tourism destination for all ages and genders. Furthermore, it positions Oldham County as a premier destination for sporting clays – one of the fastest growing sports in America, with more than three million people of all ages participating both competitively and recreationally.

I am satisfied by Heritage Gun Club’s values and emphasis on environmental sustainability, land conservation, and sponsoring healthy physical activity for families to enjoy together away from screens and distractions. The facilities – as outlined in the proposal – meet or exceed all the CUP standards for gun ranges in accordance with NRA recommendations and adhere to the best practices set out by the EPA. The designs envision a well-maintained and elegant facility in what is currently an under-utilized and neglected property, and I am satisfied by their noise pollution mitigation plan.

Heritage Gun Club belongs here, where it was founded and conceived. As Oldham County continues to grow and expand, this project will make a welcome and valuable addition to our local economy and community. I fully support this exciting development and believe wholeheartedly that it should be approved without delay.
