The Issue

As passionate movie enthusiasts living in Canada, we—like thousands of others—love experiencing the excitement of Hollywood films on the big screen. From Marvel blockbusters and Spider-Man adventures to Pixar animations and action-packed franchises, these films are meant to be shared with friends and family in theatres.

For many of us, however, that experience becomes even more meaningful when we can enjoy these films in our mother tongue—Hindi.

Over the past few years, official Hindi-dubbed Hollywood screenings in Canadian theatres have become increasingly rare, despite the continued growth of Canada's Hindi-speaking population. While these same films are released in Hindi in countries like India, Canadian audiences are often limited to English-only screenings.

Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in Canada, with hundreds of thousands of speakers across the country. This represents a large and passionate audience that deserves the opportunity to enjoy Hollywood films in the language they are most comfortable with.

For many families, watching a movie in Hindi is about more than convenience—it allows parents, grandparents, and children to share the experience together without language barriers. While subtitles are helpful, they cannot fully capture the emotion, humour, cultural nuances, or impact of a professionally dubbed performance. Cinema is about immersion, and language plays a major role in that experience.

We are **not** asking theatres to replace English screenings or dedicate entire schedules to Hindi. Instead, we are requesting a practical and realistic solution:

* Offer **one or two Hindi-dubbed screenings per day** during the opening weekend of major Hollywood releases.

* Schedule these screenings at selected theatres in communities with high demand, such as Surrey, Brampton, Mississauga, Calgary, Edmonton, and other cities with significant Hindi-speaking populations.

* Evaluate attendance and adjust future screenings based on actual ticket sales and audience demand.

This approach allows distributors and theatre chains to test demand with minimal risk while making cinemas more accessible and inclusive.

Providing official Hindi-dubbed screenings would:

* Make blockbuster films more accessible to Canada's multilingual communities.

* Allow families to enjoy Hollywood movies together without language barriers.

* Encourage more people to experience these films in theatres instead of waiting for streaming releases.

* Support diversity and inclusion while helping theatres reach a broader audience.

We respectfully call upon **Cineplex, Landmark Cinemas, Walt Disney Studios Canada, Sony Pictures Canada, Universal Pictures Canada, Warner Bros. Pictures Canada, Paramount Pictures Canada, and other film distributors** to work together to bring official Hindi-dubbed Hollywood screenings back to Canadian theatres.

Canada is proudly multicultural, and our cinemas should reflect that diversity. A limited number of Hindi screenings at selected locations is a reasonable, achievable step that would benefit both moviegoers and the film industry.

If you believe Canadian audiences should have the opportunity to watch major Hollywood films in Hindi, please sign this petition and share it with your family, friends, and fellow movie lovers. Together, we can demonstrate that there is real demand and encourage theatres and distributors to make Hollywood movies more accessible for everyone.

**Let's bring the magic of Hindi-dubbed Hollywood movies back to Canadian theatres.**
