The Issue

📣 Petition Summary:

It’s time for the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to join the national momentum and bring men’s NCAA Division I lacrosse to its universities. With exploding interest across the Southeast, passionate club programs at SEC schools, and a rapidly growing talent pool, the time to act is now.

📝 Petition Description:

Men’s lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S.—and its next frontier is the South. While the Big Ten and ACC have embraced lacrosse as a varsity sport, the SEC continues to lag behind, offering no NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse programs. Yet the region is rich with players, programs, and passion.

It’s time to bring men’s lacrosse to the SEC.

Here’s why:

Explosive regional growth: Georgia, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and the Carolinas have become national hotbeds for high school lacrosse.
Established club success: Programs like Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama consistently perform at high levels in the MCLA, proving there’s a strong foundation in place.
Recruiting opportunity: SEC schools already attract top athletes—lacrosse would expand their reach and help retain top-tier talent from the South.
Fan base + market potential: SEC fans are some of the most passionate in sports. Adding a spring spectator sport like lacrosse would increase engagement, alumni interest, and donor support.
Natural rivalries: Imagine Florida vs. Georgia, Alabama vs. Auburn, or LSU vs. Texas A&M—on the lacrosse field.

We believe the SEC should be a leader—not a follower—when it comes to advancing college athletics.

We call on SEC school presidents and athletic directors to:

Commit to adding NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse programs at their universities
Work toward reaching the six-school minimum required for the SEC to formally sponsor the sport
Embrace the growing demand from student-athletes, alumni, and fans across the South

The SEC already dominates in football, baseball, basketball, and more. Now it’s time to bring that excellence to the lacrosse field.

Sign this petition if you believe the South is ready for the next chapter.

Sign if you believe the SEC should be playing D1 lacrosse.

Let’s build it.

Let’s play it.

Let’s bring men’s lacrosse to the SEC. 🥍
