With Benmar Garage recently getting new leadership, and the managers of the Post Office resigning, Moffat has not had a Post Office for nearly a month. (As of March 18th 2026; post office closed 26th February 2026)

This is devastating to many residents; especially those whom are disabled, elderly, or have minimal means of transport. For far too many, going out to Lockerbie on the bus or car, is too much a diversion from their routine that they do not have time to fit it in.

I myself, have several disabilities, such as being partially sighted, chronic pain and fatigue; it would take too much energy for me to divert to Lockerbie; especially since I already have to get a fifteen minute bus-ride into Moffat myself. 

Residents require a consistent service with a friendly smile and good conversation, and we have been let down.

I request, that a dedicated Moffat Post Office; perhaps into the building where Manse used to be prior to moving next door, be returned back to the Moffat High Street once again; with consultation with D&G Council.
