Hasbro has since the 70's as a company, manufactured all it's toy products overseas. Mostly due to cost of labor, but in automated world if robot production this is no longer such an issue.

Production should be moved for pretty much the first time back to the continent of it's primary purchase base, and headquarters for the following reasons:

1) shipping delays and cost of transport moving product across the planet, damage the brand reputation and increase end price to buyers.

2)moving product 12,000+ miles harms the environment in numerous ways.

3)the use of human labor at slave labor prices in foreign countries (a common practice for too long) should come to end.

4)let's face it that area of the world where production is located is not stable. Conflict either armed or economical is certain in the long run. Which will put an end to a brand serving it's customers unless production is at least partially relocated now, before it's too late and production becomes impossible for years or longer.

5)the hasbro corporation itself is located itself in North America. It's primary customers are in North America. It's factories should be as well to the benefit of it's customers instead of funnelling huge amounts of money out to countries of questionable human rights records.

6)distribution of product is severely uneven due to a term I call "China shipping syndrome". Large companies like Walmart and target find little incentive to move product off west coast where it lands and distribute it across the continent. They can sell it mostly all on west coast at same price, and avoid incurring shipping costs to themselves. For the most part to collect gi joes from Hasbro I am forced to purchase from resellers on the west coast at huge markups of up to 200% because they have access to product on shelves, that stores in the northeast have never seen and never will. 

As can be clearly seen above, the main reason Hasbro continues in a china only production policy is that is just how it's always been done. 

The purpose of this petition is to encourage Hasbro to be a force for change in not only their own company but to other companies with similar policies. I for one would like Hasbro be the leader in what is inevitable eventually anyways.
