BRING FREEBIRDS BACK TO LUBBOCK

BRING FREEBIRDS BACK TO LUBBOCK
The Issue
3 years ago, the worst tragedy in Lubbocks long and proud history occurred. I remember it like it was yesterday, driving on the loop, stomach growling like a pack of hungry wolves, I have one thing on my mind. A Super Monster Burrito, from the greatest burrito shop in the world, Freebirds. I pull into the parking lot and see there aren’t any cars. Perfect, I thought, I’ll get in be first in line and get to devouring. I reach for the door, but it wouldn’t budge, I press my face on the glass and see lights off, chairs stacked, not a human being in sight. It couldn’t be true, I pull out my phone and call 911, there must be a hostage situation because there is no reason in hell the Freebirds doors should be locked at 12:30 on a Saturday. What the dispatcher told me was far worse than any hostage situation. I fell to my knees, I couldn’t breathe and my vision was blurry. My worst nightmare has come true. Freebirds in Lubbock, had permanently closed. I am making this petition because I know for a fact many other Lubbock residents have similar horror stories. Freebirds was more than a burrito shop to the people of lubbock, it was sacred ground. Right when you walk through those doors all of your worries disappear, you’re in a different world. Lubbock hasn’t been the same since, I don’t think I’ve heard a bird chirp since that day to be honest. I come here today, to fight for the city of Lubbock, to make the corporate wise guys at Freebirds realize leaving Lubbock was the worst mistake they’ve ever made. Think of all the memories you have made at Freebirds, think of all the memories you want your children to make at Freebirds, just as you did. We must come together to bring back what we deserve. If you would like to have faith restored in our community, please, please, please sign this.
