As residents of Syracuse, NY, we are writing to voice our fears and ask for your intervention. Our city, once a safe and comfortable place to raise a family, has been ravaged by increasing violence, drug addiction, and ceaseless crime. It is a daily struggle for families like ours; we live in fear of falling victim to the chaos that has consumed our streets.

A recent report indicates that drug-related deaths have increased by approximately 29% in Onondaga County, where Syracuse resides (source: Onondaga County Annual Opioid Report, 2018). Furthermore, the violent crime rate is reportedly higher than both the New York and national average (source: NeighborhoodScout's analysis of FBI reported crime data).

We, a family afflicted with physical disabilities, find our challenges amplified by these deteriorating conditions in Syracuse, NY. Given our vulnerability, we fear even more for our safety, such that a simple task like walking down our streets becomes a perilous journey.

We are pleading to you, Mr. Musk, Mr. Trump, and the offices of ICE: please direct your resources, influence, and leadership towards addressing the escalating crime rate, unsettling drug addiction, and disruptive behavior of some noncitizens that contribute to the overall decay of order and safety in Syracuse.

Our ask may be challenging, but we believe in your capacity to effect significant change. We only want what any family would – a safe, secure environment where our children can grow without fear.

We implore you to intervene and restore our city back to its former glory, where law and order presided, drug addiction was not rampant, and families like ours felt safe. Syracuse was great once; it can be again with your help. Please sign this petition.
