Bring Charges against Renters of Meth house, where child died.
The Issue
17-month-old Patrick Lerch was murdered in February of 2012; he was poisoned with methamphetamine and suffered grave physical abuse. The two renters of the St. Leger home in Akron, Ohio where he was killed have not been brought to justice. These two adults were in residence while their sons operated two meth labs there, including the time period in which toddler Patrick lived and died in their home. They were required by law to report the manufacture of narcotics on the property, which they failed to do – a felony under Ohio state law. This failure contributed directly to Patrick's death. We expect them to be held accountable for not reporting the presence of meth labs on the property. Furthermore, we believe it would be appropriate and just of law enforcement to determine their knowledge of and/or complicity in the death of Patrick Lerch. Four people have been arrested and sentenced for their involvement in these events; we believe the final two adult residents of the home should also be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
