Bring Blue Demon Time Back! | Christiansburg Highschool
The Issue
We Blue Demons want change; Christiansburg Highschool administrators have made the decision to stop giving students and teachers time in the schoolyear to catch up on missing work, organize club meetings or enjoy a well deserved break from the theatrics of highschool. The 2023-2024 schoolyear introduced Mr. Shane Guynn as principal, he was responsible for the removal of what was previously called "Blue Demon Time": a 30 minute period between classes that gave students more leeway to going about daily tasks. At the time this decision was announced, Mr. Guynn went about expressing concerns of students avoiding class, vaping, doing drugs, among other things. Though these problems do occur and are within reason to place more survalience on school premises, the consequences of removing Blue Demon Time entirely do more harm than good to the CHS community.
With Blue Demon Time gone -
• Productivity as a whole has gone down
• Catch up work has become more difficult, increasing stress and individual-uncertainty
• Classes have become longer
• Dilequency continues to run rampant in our hallways and bathrooms
• Meetings for clubs and extracurriculars meetings now occur very rarely or exlusively after-school
Blue Demon Time gave many of us at CHS a helping hand, it was an unpleasant surprise to see its termination, but with your help; we can get it back. Every signature counts, so please consider spreading this petition to improve our school and morale.
