The purpose of this petition is to gain the attention of administrators at Santa Teresa Highschool and the school board to inform them that women are once again having one of our rights stripped away.

Period cramps differ in pain and longevity. Every body is different, so to expect all of these young teenagers to perform a physically stressful act during PE on top of having to deal with an already painful experience is to ignore the well-being of students. Physical activity during someone’s period can cause severe health issues such as headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue (which can all lead back up the chain into more health issues), etc. Although I do not have period pain/cramps myself, I will fight to defend the people who do. The people who cry on the bathroom floor due to their period, the people that feel like they’re being stabbed in the stomach, that is who I am thinking about. I refuse to let Santa Teresa Highschool fail them without consequence. Let us be able to be excused for the day and make up our absence from class at a better time.
