Bring Back the Wii U: Restore Its Online Services and eShop!

 

The Wii U was one of Nintendo's most unique consoles. Its innovative GamePad, original features, and games created memories for millions of players around the world.

 

Today, much of the Wii U's digital and online ecosystem is gone. New purchases on the Wii U eShop ended in 2023, and Wii U online services were discontinued in 2024.

 

We believe the Wii U deserves another chance.

 

We are asking Nintendo to consider:

 

1. Bringing the Wii U back into production.

2. Restoring Wii U online services, including online multiplayer and other services where technically possible.

3. Reopening the Wii U eShop, allowing players to purchase and download digital games and content again.

 

We understand that completely restoring every service may not be simple. However, Nintendo could explore practical alternatives, such as a limited digital storefront, a smaller selection of supported games, or a paid online service.

 

The Wii U may have been commercially unsuccessful, but that does not mean it has no value. Its unique hardware, GamePad experience, exclusive features, and game library have given it a dedicated community that still cares about the system.

 

This petition is not about demanding that Nintendo abandon its current platforms. It is about asking Nintendo to recognize the Wii U's lasting cultural and gaming value and explore ways to make the console and its services accessible again.
