2017 Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 389 - Academics and Textbooks NRS 389.014 - Patriotic observance. States that each school in Nevada should set aside a certain time in the day for patriotic observance or the Pledge of Allegiance. At Reno High School that is not the case, I found myself not being able to recite the Pledge because it had been years since I’ve said it. Many students and I feel it’s our duty to our country to recognize our nation every day. At Reno high school we make it a big detail to teach our student body about leadership and honoring one another, however as we watch other high schools such as Bishop Manogue and Robert McQueen high school do our Pledge of Allegiance each morning it seems as if at Reno we are forgetting an essential piece of American history and tradition. In times where our nation is divided we need small things such as the Pledge of Allegiance to honor our country and remember that at heart we are all Americans.
