Bring back The Phantom Theater at Kings Island

The Issue

This petition is to bring back the Phantom Theater dark ride at Kings Island theme park in Cincinnati Ohio. Phantom Theater was a beloved dark ride at Kings Island from 1992 until 2002. Rather that rehab and update the ride, the owners of Kings Island opted to change it into something else. Bringing back this beloved and unique ride would not only bring joy to thousands of park goers, but entice new patrons to experience this new dark ride that is only rivaled by the likes of Disney's Haunted Mansion. Also, Kings island is known for its "haunted Theme park" reputation. Having featured on the TV show "Ghost Hunters" and being consistently voted as having one of the best Halloween events in its "Haunt" event every year. Not to mention public figures like R.L. Stine being from the Cincinnati area and having already written two books about one of Kings Island's famous roller coasters "The Beast" Meaning that, in addition the boosting the parks number of family friendly rides, bringing back the Phantom Theater would be a perfect fit for the park.

Phantom Theater has never been more poised for a return than right now. Thanks to the "Phantom Theater: Encore" live action show now running for two seasons in a row, and the ever increasing amount of Phantom Theater merchandise being made available in the park, Phantom Theater has not been more in the public consciousness than since its closure in 2002. Another reason that the time is right to bring back this iconic Kings Island dark ride is the various locations that are available to build it. With the exception of the newly themed "Adventure Port" area of the park, Phantom theater would slot in perfectly to any of the parks themed areas. In the "Action Zone" area of the park, it would be right at home among rides like "The Bat" and "The Banshee". In the "Coney Island" area of the park, it would join a long list of dark rides that originated in old "coney Island" style parks across the country. The rides vaudeville style theater ascetic would fit in perfectly in the parks "Rivertown" area. As well as having extra room in the park thanks to the removal of "The Vortex" rollercoaster a few years back. And lastly, its final resting place could be its original location in what is now "Planet snoopy". Though ironically, theming wise this might now be the poorest fit.

Finally, in terms of developing the new version of the "Phantom Theater", during Kings Island's 50th anniversary celebration, assets that were used in the creation of the original ride were shown to the public. Proving that there already exists a wealth of information and resources that can be utilized to bring the Phantom Theater back to life. Even the ride's original creator has publicly stated that he has new ideas that he would incorporate into the ride, were it to be brought back. Using original concept art and other unused assets, as well as taking advantage of new dark ride and animatronics technology, a new ride could be brought into fruition that would maintain the feel of the original ride while making it exciting for modern park goers.

Please join me in signing this petition and help to show Kings Island that, much like the spirits that inhabit it, the Phantom Theater is still alive!
