The Issue
I am not alone in my sense of nostalgia for the old Sprite can design. As a child, during family trips, those delightful gas station stops and getting a Sprite with that beautiful design has left a lasting impression on me. This isn’t just about a beverage, it became a memorable part of my childhood and it represented comfort and joy.
The Sprite can design from 2008 had a unique charm and brought a sense of joy and comfort to numerous consumers across the world. The shift from the classic design to the current one did not resonate with a sizeable fraction of devoted customers like myself. It's vital to mention that packaging has visible effects on the customer's experience and overall enjoyment of the product. Cornell University, in one study, found that aesthetics in product packaging can significantly enhance user connection and identification with the product, leading to a better product experience (Cornell University, 2014).
A return to the 2008 design isn't just about aesthetics, it is about preserving a piece of our personal and collective history. By signing this petition, we urge The Coca-Cola Company, the parent company of Sprite, to revisit this call from hundreds of thousands of Sprite drinkers who wish to bring that piece of memory back.
