As a proud member of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) community, I am writing this petition to urge the college administration and relevant authorities to start-up a tailgate at our campus during homecoming week. This initiative aims to encourage alumni and the entire campus-wide community, including families, students, alumni, and staff, to come together and create stronger team spirit.

Personal Story:
Being part of a smaller institution like TCNJ has its own unique charm. However, it can sometimes be challenging to find events that are inclusive for all groups within our community. As a student, I have personally experienced the lack of opportunities for everyone to come together and celebrate as one unified campus.

Homecoming week is an incredibly special time when we have the chance to reconnect with old friends, cheer on our teams, and show our Lion pride. Unfortunately, in recent years we have seen a decline in participation during homecoming events due to limited options for engagement.

Tailgates have historically been an integral part of college culture across the nation. They provide a vibrant atmosphere where people from all walks of life can gather before games or other major events on campus. Tailgating not only fosters team spirit but also creates lasting memories that strengthen bonds within the community.

1. According to a survey conducted by NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), schools with strong tailgate traditions tend to experience higher levels of fan engagement and overall school spirit.
2. A study published in The Journal of Sport Management found that tailgating significantly contributes towards building social connections among fans.
3. Many colleges across New Jersey already host successful tailgate events during their homecoming weeks which attract large crowds from both within their campuses as well as surrounding communities.

By starting a tailgate at TCNJ during homecoming week, we aim to:
