The Issue

I am a student at the University of Utah's College of Nursing, and like hundreds of my peers, I relied heavily on the recorded and posted TA videos covering course content for Clinical Management (CM). These videos have become an indispensable tool for our learning, providing invaluable support in a demanding and complex course that forms the foundation of our nursing education. The abrupt removal of these resources left many of us feeling anxious, outraged, and unfairly disadvantaged.

Clinical Management is not just any course; it is a critical component of our curriculum and essential to our future success as nursing professionals. The TA videos offered us the ability to revisit material at our own pace, enhance our understanding, and improve our retention of key concepts. Their absence has been felt deeply, and our academic performance and confidence in mastering the course content have been significantly impacted.

Not only did these videos support our diverse learning needs and schedules, but they also aligned with the university's commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. Understandably, compliance with ADA regulations is crucial, yet it should not come at the expense of valuable educational tools that benefit the majority. The discontinuation of these videos without exploring or implementing alternative options threatens our ability to succeed and undermines the faculty's role in supporting student achievement.

We propose reinstating the TA videos while ensuring they comply with ADA standards. Possible solutions may include providing captions, transcripts, or even posting them on another non-university-affiliated site (YouTube, for example). Furthermore, by collaborating with students, the university can develop new ways to meet regulatory requirements without sacrificing the quality of learning resources.

The return of the TA videos covering Clinical Management content would not only restore a vital learning resource but also demonstrate the university's dedication to academic excellence, student support, and equity. By signing this petition, you are advocating for the reinstatement of a crucial educational aid that empowers nursing students to excel in their studies and ultimately in their professional careers. We urge the College of Nursing and the University of Utah administration to take immediate action to bring back these essential resources and enhance our learning experience.

Please sign this petition and help us in making our voices heard.
