Is anyone else still missing Somerset Pool?

This may be a long shot, but I’m wondering how many people in our community would support exploring the possibility of rebuilding Somerset Pool someday.

I know it was closed many years ago, but for many families it was a special place — a place where people learned to swim, spent summers together, and made memories.

Sometimes all it takes is starting a conversation and reminding decision-makers that something mattered to the community.

I’d love to hear from anyone who remembers Somerset Pool, has photos or stories, or would be interested in helping to start a petition to show community support.

We, the undersigned residents and community members, respectfully request that the City of Oshawa explore the possibility of rebuilding Somerset Pool as a future outdoor recreation space.

Somerset Pool was a treasured part of our community for generations, providing families, children, and residents with a place to swim, gather, and create memories.

We recognize that rebuilding a pool would require careful planning, budgeting, environmental and engineering assessments, and Council consideration. However, we believe the community should have the opportunity to revisit this possibility and explore whether Somerset Pool can once again become a valued recreational asset.
