Bring back snacks of all variety to HTS Senior School

Bring back snacks of all variety to HTS Senior School
The Issue
After long 7 hour days of hard work, learning, and academics along, often followed by athletics practices or games, hunger and food is often food for thought (get it) for many students at HTS. Previously, we were treated after long school days with snacks that varied from chips, to baked pastries, to cookies, to pretzels, to even apples. For many liked minded students, after school snack was something that was looked forward to, especially after a day filled with summative assessments, or extended periods, or workouts in the fitness center. Often times, a sweet treat would put a smile on many students faces, giving us something to look forward to. Other times, there would be a healthy snack to contrast the treats from other days. Now, with the removal of snack, you can find the cafeteria empty at 3:30, as students with empty stomachs have nothing to rush downstairs and look forward to. The addition of grapefruit and oranges is simply not supplementary for the loss of our beloved snack. If you favour the return of after school snack, please sign this petition,
IN REGARDS TO HEALTH REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITS AND LAWS:
There is no provincial law or regulation that prohibits schools from providing free after-school snacks based on sugar, fat, or nutritional content; Ontario nutrition policy primarily governs foods that are sold in schools, meaning the previous snack program operated within school discretion rather than a legal restriction.
IN REGARDS TO GARABGE CONCERNS: The amount of plastic waste is understandable, and so is the mess. If there was a garbage can placed right beside the snack tray, then students would be able to dispose of their wrappers right away, as due to a matter of laziness a garbage can on the other side of the hallway can seem "too far" ect.
ALSO, we can have lunch leftovers as food waste seems to be a big problem, killing two birds with one stone. Another solution would be to make fresh baked danishes and pastries or smoothie cups as we used to have, eliminating all wrappers and plastic waste completely.
Thanks, and we look toward your signature. - Dhruv Patel, 10C/D
