Despite only running a little more than 8 years on network television,  Santa Barbara was one of the most beloved daytime dramas ever.   The influence of the Capwells and the Lockridges spread worldwide and even influenced society in places like Russia,  France, and Ukraine.   The show improved every year in the 1980's and along the way,  Santa Barbara became the first ever to win the Emmy award for Best Daytime Drama three years in a row!  

Note:  This petition is to reboot / spin-off the original daytime drama Santa Barbara into a new show with new episodes.  This is not a petition to re-run the original episodes.  

When Santa Barbara was canceled, fans did not like that there were so many open questions and so many unknown outcomes for their favorites.   Like Cruz and Eden.... 30 years later,  people wonder if they found each other and reconnected.  But there are many other questions that fans want answered!  Who is in charge of Capwell Enterprises these days?   Did Mason and Julia live "happily ever after" ?   How did Gina's marriage to Lionel work out?   Not to mention many of the children on the show would be adults now and people are interested to see how things turned out for Brandon,  Adriana,  Samantha and Chip!  (and don't forget,  Julia was pregnant with another child when the show ended....) 

To this day,  Santa Barbara has a massive online following on social media,  and fans even gathered for a reunion with several cast members on a Caribbean cruise in late 2019!   That cruise made it very clear that even now,  30 years later,  the show remains a favorite in the hearts of fans from around the world.  Likewise, the actors from the show have made it equally clear that Santa Barbara had a profound effect on their lives and their careers, and today they still have many fond memories of working on the show.  

This petition is to bring back Santa Barbara and to show those involved in the preliminary process to make that happen,  that yes... the fans are still here and yes... we still love our show and yes... we absolutely support any effort to bring it back today!  

This award-winning show was loved for its dynamic characters, dramatic storylines, quirky humor, and, of course, its beautiful Santa Barbara setting. With a return to the world of Mason,  Eden,  Cruz,  Julia and Gina,  we aim to recapture all of these elements and more.  We propose a show that would  welcome back some of your favorite original cast members, as well as introducing new talent to the mix.  The result will be a show that both honors its roots and brings something new to the table.  At its best, Santa Barbara was known for breaking the mold, for moving beyond its genre, and we ask that the show be allowed to continue that legacy.
