The issue
i started in 2020 and rec room was the best game i ever played. it was one of the first games i got on my ps4, and honestly it was the only reason i bought a vr
i met so many amazing people through that game. one of my best friends and i have been friends for six years now because of rec room
i stopped playing for a little while because i got a job. i remember getting online one day and noticing there weren’t many people playing anymore, and that genuinely made me upset. but i stayed focused on work and never realised that would be the last time i ever played the game
this might sound silly to some people, but i genuinely cried when i found out rec room had shut down. i found out an hour after it happened through tiktok videos. i didn’t get to graduate, even though i had graduated every other year. i didn’t get to say goodbye to the amazing friends i made over the years. i didn’t get to save my photos or look at my outfit one last time. all i have left are the memories from recnet.
that game genuinely saved me. it was the one thing that made me happy during some of the hardest times in my life. i went through some of the worst and best moments with the people i cared about on that game.
i miss fighting over the blue chair in neko cafe. i miss being terrible at dodgeball. i miss being an absolute goat at paintball. i miss listening to the annoying screaming kids in laser tag. and i absolutely miss grinding the curse of the crimson cauldron and quest for the golden trophy with my friends
back in 2021, vr wasn’t as popular as it is now. people were obsessed with vr players. i would always get asked to give people hugs or even kisses in game, and it would make them so happy. i miss those silly moments
i miss when it was hard to get on the same team as your friends because the game was so full. i miss when every lobby was packed with people. i miss everything about that game, but most of all i miss the people
and that’s why i’m starting this petition. because i know there are people out there who loved this game just as much as i did, maybe even more. if there’s even the smallest chance that rec room could come back, then i think it’s worth trying
