Bring Back Real Leadership: John Bel Edwards for U.S. Senate

Bring Back Real Leadership: John Bel Edwards for U.S. Senate
The Issue
An Open Letter to Former Governor John Bel Edwards. PLEASE RUN FOR SENATE!
From the People of Tangipahoa Parish and Beyond
Dear Governor Edwards, As a fellow son of Tangipahoa Parish, I write to you not just as a member of our Democratic Parish Executive Committee, but as someone who knows firsthand what your leadership has meant to Louisiana. You governed with compassion, steadiness, and principle through some of the most turbulent years in our state’s recent history. While others sowed division, you led with grace. While many turned their backs on working families, you expanded Medicaid, saved rural hospitals, and gave hundreds of thousands access to care they never had before. You stood tall when it mattered, and Louisiana was better for it. Now, as our state and nation face rising tides of extremism, authoritarianism, and cruelty, we need that courage again. We need leaders who don’t just talk about service, but live it. We need someone who understands rural communities, who respects the dignity of public service, and who will fight like hell to protect democracy, working people, and basic decency in the U.S. Senate. We’re asking you, Governor Edward, to consider stepping forward once more. Louisiana needs a fighter with your integrity, your experience, and your heart. We know it’s no small thing to ask. But this moment in history demands leaders who won’t flinch. You’ve never been afraid of hard fights. We believe, deeply, that if you run, you won’t be fighting alone. You’ll have the backing of everyday Louisianans—across Tangipahoa, across our parishes, and across our state—who know what real leadership looks like. We, the undersigned, urge you to consider this call to service once more. Louisiana needs your leadership now more than ever.
With hope, urgency, and resolve,
Lee J. Verret Secretary, Tangipahoa Parish Democratic Executive Committee Membership Chair, Young Democrats of Louisiana
