As a concerned student at Roseville Area High School, I am writing this petition to advocate for the reinstatement of Raider Time, a valuable free period that allows students to catch up on assignments, seek academic support, and engage in activities. Last year, as a new transfer student towards the end of the year, Raider Time played a crucial role in helping me adapt and succeed academically.

 

During my transition period at Roseville Area High School, I found myself struggling to keep up with tests and homework due to missed class time. Without Raider Time's dedicated period for catching up on missed work or seeking additional help from teachers, it would have been nearly impossible for me to bridge the gap between my previous school's curriculum and that of Roseville.

 

Some may argue that Rise Time can fulfill the same purpose as Raider Time. However, incorporating essential tasks such as completing assignments or seeking assistance during Rise Time often interrupts valuable learning time during regular classes. This disruption hampers students' ability to fully grasp new concepts and ultimately undermines their academic progress and removes the option for students to have school activites if they are not able to do after or before school extracurriculars.

 

To ensure the success of all students at Roseville Area High School and promote an inclusive learning environment where every individual has equal opportunities for achievement, we must reinstate Raider Time. By doing so:

 

1. Students will have dedicated time each day to complete assignments without sacrificing valuable class instruction and be able to choose between activites like before.

2. Those who require additional academic support will be able to seek guidance from teachers without disrupting their peers' learning experience.

3. Extracurricular activities can thrive during this designated free period without conflicting with academics.

4. Transfer students like myself will have an invaluable resource that aids in their smooth integration into our school community.

 

I urge you all – fellow students, parents/guardians, teachers/administrators – who believe in providing equitable educational opportunities for every student at Roseville Area High School to support this petition. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that Raider Time is reinstated for the benefit of all.
