The Issue

What happened

As of July 30th, 2025, with the launch of Set 15: K.O. Coliseum, Riot Games removed the Hyper Roll game mode from Teamfight Tactics. This decision eliminated the only fast-paced, low-pressure mode available for players.

Negative Impact on players:

Players who relied on Hyper Roll for short, casual games now have no alternative. Newcomers are pushed into longer, more competitive modes like Normals or Ranked, which can be overwhelming. Other options, such as Tocker’s Trials, lack PvP excitement, and Double Up requires a friend to play as intended. With Hyper Roll gone, TFT no longer fits into the schedules of many players who don’t have 40+ minutes to spare.

Why this matters:

Hyper Roll was the entry point for many of us. It allowed new players to learn without any major punishment, and returning players to enjoy TFT without the pressure of high-stakes ranked games. It was a flexible mode that respected our time and as life gets busier with work, school, and family, having a mode like Hyper Roll helped us stay connected to the game we love.

Why the TFT Dev Team should care:

TFT’s long-term health depends on accessibility. Hyper Roll supported casual engagement, helped player retention, and kept the game welcoming to a broader audience. Its removal sends the message that low-commitment players aren’t valued, despite how vital they are to the community. Without a replacement, TFT risks losing those who don’t have the time or desire to commit to longer matches.

Potential Solution:

We are asking Riot to bring back Hyper Roll as a permanent mode in TFT. If a direct return isn’t possible, then keep it in the client until a similar mode should be introduced—one that delivers quick, casual games with light matchmaking and a low barrier to entry.

Hyper Roll filled that space perfectly and deserves to be part of TFT’s core options for players.
